alien prospector - "Dusty"
Another day, another alien…
This slimy little guy is off to work. Out there on the farthest reaches of the final frontier, where things with bones dare not go!
What is he looking for, you ask?
Space Dust? maybe.

Jerry pin-up

I couldn't not do it (it's 3 in the morning and I'll use a double negative if I want to), the theme this week on illustration friday is 'old-fashioned'...
So I blew the dust off an old sketch and slapped some colour to it and presto! Instant Jerry pin-up and I don't have to tell you how old-fashioned he is...
One day I'll get around to telling his story but right now... bed.

Savannah 2116 AD
And speaking of covers....

Here's another one I did for Tafelberg a few years back, I used the same model from the Moon Bride kid's story I posted not long ago, remember her?
This is actually my first credited book cover and I kinda threw everything at it (at the time) but looking back, it still holds up well.

I also created the typography of the 'Savannah', there's a special place in my heart for typographical design...

the moon bride
Shoo hey, crazy days.
I've been hard at work putting my site together and it's aaalmost done... how exciting! I'll keep you all updated.
Anyway, without further excuses, here're some goodies from way back....

These illustrations for Nasou Via Afrika are one of the first jobs I undertook as freelance illustrator. I wanted to play with photo-montage techniques and managed to convince a friend to pose as the Moon, the rest is layered and layered on top.
This is probably the first time I used photos in my work, I've become a lot more subtle these days :)
(I can't help shake the feeling that I've just missed the opportunity to post a scary drawing)
