It's a wet, wet day in Cape Town today. And speaking of wet, Usana's also been trying to stay dry in this week's installment...

TB fighters

I regularly get to work with an NGO on a publication called Equal Treatment magazine dedicated to covering health and HIV matters.
It's good to do something that actually benefits people and not just a pretty picture... know what I'm sayin...?

Save our rhinos

You may have heard: these are dangerous times for our rhinos, with poaching at an all time high because of ridiculous "magical" properties attributed to their horns by certain unsavoury people (if they be people at all).

Black rhinos in particular (illustrated here) are threatened because of their double horns, only a handful are left in the wild and it breaks my heart.

There are many charities and initiatives in place to help, I'll be posting more rhino pics as well as the details of these various organisations, please take the time now to visit WEESA and if you can: help!

"WESSA's vision is to achieve a South Africa which is wisely managed by all to ensure long-term environmental sustainability."

lion’s pride

It's no secret that I like drawing animals, so when I was asked to design a family of lions I naturally said: "sure!"

What was interesting is that the client did not want a typical, cutesy look. Not too nasty either but something in between...

This is a piece I did back in college, we had to take an object and bring it to life, in fact I based mine on an unfortunate personal experience.

My lecturer at the time was one of the most influential people in my life, I owe him a lot... so if you're watching: Steve, thanks for everything!

Looking back at it now, there's some stuff I’d do differently but hey; you live, you learn.... and sometimes it hurts  o_O

A few years back, myself and a friend collaborated on a 48 page graphic novel. The road's been long and steep but we've learned a lot... at some point we made the executive decision to publish it online as a webcomic.

I invite you now to come check it out, at least 14 pages are up already so you can get right in there with great gusto!

lately belated

I'm back!!
No no, I've not been out goofing off on my skateboard...

I have, however, been sailing on an ocean of work for our local publishers, a whole new syllabus had to be illustrated... deadlines were tight but I had the pleasure of working with old friends as well as a slew of new ones!

This is just a teeny taste, I'll be putting a lot more up from my recent adventures, so stay tuned :)

Thanks for visiting!
