the Gimp is dead, long live the Gimp!

One of my dearest models died recently.
Gimli (aka the Gimp aka Gimme aka Gimpster) was a cat of great standing and sweet, sweet disposition. A lion’s mane enveloping the most delicate personality, a real sweet-heart...

Rest in peace buddy, I miss you.

beastly birthdays

As the year gains momentum and time becomes more and more monopolised, it's great to find excuses to string a few stray minutes together to draw little things for the people I care about.

The girls posed for me recently as subjects for some birthday cards: Una (basset hound), Zoe (pug) and our little Peanut...

happy halloween

Here's a recent doodle I thought would be appropriate today, it's based on 'Gimli' the resident house-cat that keeps me company most days as I draw.

Contrary to the pic, he's actually a sweety-pie, more likely to roll over and purr than to play fight... it's taken me ages to rekindle that 'killer instinct' at the cost of minor flesh-wounds to my fore-arms and feet, turns out he likes feet :)
Doodled on old paper with whatever I had on hand and finished off in photoshop, have I mentioned I'm a big fan of Dave McKean?

doodles

busy, busy day...

Here're a couple of ink wash sketches I did a while ago, wildlife - one of my favourite themes ;)
Ever since I discovered ink wash I fell in love with the medium, and I recommend Parkers Quink, many frown but it's inexpensive and very versatile!
